Valve would be working on a system that allows “make notes within the games“. The information comes from Pavel Djundik, creator of SteamDB and well-known Steam dataminer. The system would be arriving within the library of Steam and also on the web.
It is not clear what “take notes” means, but the more literal translation of the comment is probably the correct one. It could be a system that allows you to write private notes and to tie them to a specific game. It would be a way to write down information that the game doesn’t keep track of, without having to do it by hand on a piece of paper.
Think for example of a game like Elder Ring, which does not keep track of the characters’ missions: with a system of notes it would be possible to write down what a certain NPC has asked us to do, without the risk of losing pieces of paper around. It could be particularly useful especially on Steam Deck, since on the go it is not easy to stop and write something down in a notebook or even just in smartphone notes. Furthermore, for anyone who plays on multiple devices, being able to have notes always at hand wherever they are via the cloud is no small advantage.
It should also be noted that this kind of function was requested by Steam players several times over the years: since 2018 there have been posts on the Steam forum or on the sub-reddit dedicated to the Valve platform that suggest the inclusion of something similar.
Other than that, Djundik says Valve is also working on a desktop notification system similar to that of the mobile app. However, it seems to be still a work in progress.
Finally, we remind you that the Spring Sales 2023 have begun with lots of games on offer.
