I have to say that different society have different thought. For instance, tranditional Chinese enjoy expressing BL very

romantic. 断袖之癖，perhaps most of us heard of this word.

However, today Chinese law does not agree the homogeneous love,  and most of the Chinese people think that BL

and GL is an uncommon, even mad acitivity. But in the Netherlands, BL and GL are allowed.

Perhaps the combination of different countries' cultures are the main reason why these words have changed the meaning.
